Since opening in 1995, the Old Bakery on 8th Gallery has established a reputation for sourcing an outstanding collection of Western Australian art and fine craft in its retail section as well as hosting a continuous program of exhibitions. The Gallery is currently operated by the experienced and creative partnership of Anne Butorac, Rosemary Cant, and Kath Lymon.
The ambience of a 1910 building, still housing the original baker's oven, is utilised to great effect to display quality work by Western Australian artists and craftspeople. The Gallery provides an affordable retail outlet and an excellent exhibition venue with curatorial service. Additionally, the business offers special occasion and corporate gift requests, special orders and gift wrapping.
Organisations or individuals seeking unique artwork for corporate gifts and presentations, boardroom or office walls or for personal delight are invited to visit the gallery or contact us by email or phone to help in this selection. The Gallery has a large network of contributing artists and artisans and has a diverse range of art-pieces and beautiful functional items: paintings, photographs, glass jewellery, textiles, ceramics, wood and metal.
A cafe has recently been established beside the gallery offering excellent coffee, light meals and freshly baked cakes. Cafe staff also can offer catering for private or corporate functions. The Cafe is open daily from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm and, with its delicious made-on-the-premises offerings, provides an attractive dimension when visiting the Gallery.
